Kids Summer Wet Clay-Wheel Throwing Camp @ The Art Bodega
Monday July 11 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 11:30 am, repeating until July 14, 2022
Kids will learn the fundamentals of making pottery with wet clay in this fun and messy camp! There will be hand-building techniques, experimenting with creative sculpture projects, make useful items like cups and bowls, and try throwing pottery on a pottery wheel. We will have two themes and two sessions of each class. Waitlists for each camp could result in a second afternoon session!!
Due to the drying and firing time required for wet clay, pottery projects will be ready for pickup approximately one month after camp is complete. We cannot rush the process or the pieces can be damaged or destroyed – your contact info will be collected and you will be contacted when they’re ready for pick-up. Dinnerware etc. will be food-safe.
Cost: $150/week (+tax), includes a 1.5hr class Monday-Thursday, plus all materials, glazing and two firing. Monday-
Wednesday we will make projects each day with a short break for snacks and stretching. Thursday will be dedicated to painting all of the projects from the previous days of the week.
Space is limited to 8 students per session.
Wet clay summer camp is geared toward kids ages 8-14. For younger kids, we recommend pottery painting in the main studio during our DIY hours or joining our Summer Art Camp for all school ages kids.
We recommend either a smock or apron, or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Clay comes out of clothes, but this is a messy medium and we don’t have aprons!
